Few surety brokers can say that they have written bonds on five continents, but Erik Johansson has actually done so over the course of his 15 years as a global surety professional. Formerly an underwriter at HCC Surety Group, and later the Southern California surety practice leader for Willis Insurance Services, Erik has secured bonds for clients ranging from independent subcontractors to billion-dollar, publicly traded companies.
Erik is a graduate of Washington State University with a degree in risk management and insurance. He is an active member of the Surety Underwriters Association of Southern California (SUASC), the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), Building Industry Association (BIA) and the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).
With 25 years of surety experience at global insurance brokers Johnson & Higgins, Marsh and Willis, Christina Johnson brings considerable expertise to Performance Bonding. Her clientele reaches across several industries, but reflects substantial emphasis on real estate development and large commercial enterprises.
Christina notes that her longtime interest in the surety business stems from the fact that the field is never stagnant and every situation is different, which allows for creativity in developing unique client solutions. She notes, “Clients are looking for brokers that are financial partners; who can put together a capacity management strategy that is in line with their company’s financial goals and objectives; and who will proactively manage their program through the inevitable market cycles.”
Christina earned a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Redlands. She is a member of the Building Industry Association of Southern California and the National Association of Surety Bond Producers.
Jennifer brings over 20 years of expertise in the surety bond industry from both the underwriting and broker perspectives. She attributes her success to a steadfast aptitude for forging relationships, combined with maintaining a finger on the pulse of the constantly changing construction and bonding environments. Jennifer notes “contributing to the long-term success of her clients is the most rewarding aspect of her career.”
Jennifer is a graduate of the California Polytechnic University and is an active member of the Association of General Contractors in several of the Western States. Representing clients in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, California, Oregon, Washington and Utah, Jennifer heads Performance Bonding’s Idaho operations, with satellite locations in Meridian and Island Park. Jennifer enjoys the ability to routinely travel throughout the Western region she represents.
With 11 years in the surety industry, Melissa Lopez has seen how cyclical changes in the economy can affect the requirements for obtaining a bond. When surety carrier requirements become tight for clients, Melissa prides herself on helping them to find creative ways to collateralize a bond agreement.
Melissa works proactively to help clients anticipate their surety needs in 6-12 month forecasts, while also helping them limit their current bond exposure through careful follow-up on bonds that are ready to close out. She is also a licensed notary public.
